Mining Equipment: Voorspoed Mine Continues Diamond Production

Mining Equipment: The Voorspoed mine, owned by De Beers Consolidated, continues diamond production after its ramp-up activities began in July 2008 while MSloane Consulting continues to provide mining equipment to mining operations worldwide. It is located 30km north-east of Kroonstad, in the free-state province of South Africa. The tenure of the mine is 12-16 years, including activities such as pre-stripping, ramp-up production and closure.

The mine is expected to have a full capacity production of 800,000 carats per year. The company ramped up production levels from 60,000 carats in October 2008. Over ten million carats are expected to be generated during the life of the mine.
