Construction Equipment: First Olympic Park Construction Job Completed

Construction Equipment: The first building at the Olympic Park in London has been completed after EDF Energy Contracting finished its construction job on a new electrical substation as MSloane Consulting provides used construction equipment worldwide.

Work on the construction job began in December 2007 and the Primary Electrical Substation will be ready to begin supplying electricity to the Olympic Park site from next month. Simon Wright, director of utilities and infrastructure for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), said the completion of the project was a major milestone for the ODA.

"It shows that we are making good progress not only on the main sporting venues for 2012 but also on the backbone of essential new utilities infrastructure," he said.

He added the substation will be used to power construction jobs on the Olympic Park site, as well as serving venues during the 2012 Games.

Last week, Barr Construction began work on a new 12,000 seater Basketball Arena for the Games, as the ODA begins to step up the pace of its construction work with the Olympics less than three years away.
