Gold-miner Gold Fields, based in South Africa, would again increase its gold production by 4% in the fourth quarter of the 2009 financial year and will probably need more mining equipment.
The company MSloane Consulting sells used and unused mining equipment for the mining indutry anywhere in the world. The company Gold Fields reported last May that it had increased production by 4% to 871 000 oz in the third quarter, saying it was expecting to achieve a similar increase in the fourth quarter.
Production in the three months to end June 30, 2009, was expected to reach about 905 000 oz of gold, with the South African operations increasing production by 2% to about 520 000 oz of gold, compared with 517 000 oz of gold in the previous quarter.
