Used Mining Equipment for Sale: Copper Hits a Ten-month High

Mining equipment for sale: Copper hit a ten-month high on Monday as fresh data suggested the global recession was easing, spurring hopes of a recovery in demand and sending the dollar lower.

Brokerage CLSA's China purchasing managers index rose to a one-year high of 52,8 in July, confirming official PMI data over the weekend that indicated an expansion in manufacturing, while US gross domestic product numbers on Friday showed the world's largest economy shrank by less than expected in the second quarter.

The greenback sank to its lowest point this year against a basket of currencies, making dollar-priced commodities cheaper for holders of other currencies.

"The markets are certainly factoring in economic recovery and that's a key reason why we've had these big gains in commodity prices," said David Moore, commodity strategist at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

A New Breed of Mining Equipment

It seems inevitable that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), which have already risen to prominence in the military sector, will become standard mining equipment in the mining business.

Research in UAVs has been increasing since the last decade. Initially the applications have been focused on the military.

This, however, is changing and the vast benefits of the technology have attracted the attention of industries such as the mining equipment sector which has already begun to reap the rewards.

The primary use of aircraft within the mining industry is for exploration; to map out tracts of distant terrain and to explore for potential mineral deposits. The nature of such missions makes the use of UAVs a natural fit, but that is not the only area of mining operations in which unmanned aircraft excel.

Missions flown by manned fixed-wing aircraft are inherently dangerous because of the necessity of conducting such flights at low altitudes and low air speeds. UAVs only require control from a pilot stationed safely on the ground.

Used Construction Equipment for Nuclear Construction Projects

MSloane Consulting has its radars on any requirements from nuclear construction projects such as used construction equipment.

The recent successful auction of three Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) sites emphatically displayed the level of optimism surrounding the UK’s new nuclear power construction programme.

The sites were three plots of farmland − 178ha at Wylfa, Anglesey, 48ha at Oldbury, Gloucestershire, and 200ha at Bradwell, Essex − each adjacent to ageing Magnox nuclear power plants, which the NDA was attempting to sell during the biggest recession since the Great Depression.

With property and land prices in falling, the NDA placed a reserve price of £35M on each site and, although it was hopeful of raising more than this, it surely underestimated just how highly treasured these desolate strips of land were. The three sites sold in April for a combined total of £387M, with a joint venture of German generators Eon and RWE Npower buying Wylfa and Oldbury and French generator EDF snapping up Bradwell.

Used Mining Equipment for Sale and Laser Precision in Mining Automation Applications

Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) reports that Modern sensors are delivering data for the creation of 360° digital maps for mine machinery in the harshest conditions.

For used mining equipment for sale, visit MSloane Consulting.

Anyone who has spent even the shortest amount of time in a working mine will know the adversity of the conditions that can exist. An often hostile climate combines with the localised tempests of dust, heat and mist caused by the processes of digging or drilling into the earth to create some challenging environments. Decisions made in such conditions where senses are severely limited (sight especially) have always been subject to significantly increased risk. There is now a universal desire to reduce that risk.

Lasers have found regular but limited use in mining automation applications (such as Load Haul Dump vehicles) and applications of millimetre-radar are under trial with some promise. However, difficult mining conditions still threaten widespread use of both technologies. CSIRO’s ICT Centre identified the need to extend the potential use of these tools by establishing the performance parameters of scanning range sensors under adverse environmental conditions.

Crossrail's route will stretch 118km from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west, through 21.5km of twin bored tunnels through central London, and on to Canary Wharf, Woolwich, Abbey Wood and Shenfield in the east.

Surveying and enabling works are already well underway at many locations along this route and the property acquisition process has also begun. And last weekend saw the closure of Charing Cross Road in London’s West End as plant was mobilised ready to tackle the demolition of buildings around Tottenham Court Road Underground station. This is being upgraded as part of London Underground improvement works and will also interface with a Crossrail station.

But all eyes are now on Canary Wharf station − known as Isle of Dogs until last week when it was renamed by developer Canary Wharf Group which is putting £150M into its construction. It will be the first station to be complete along the route and is scheduled to be ready for handover to Crossrail by summer 2012.

At that point the station will comprise a watertight cofferdam in the North Dock of West India Quay, running along the northern edge of Canary Wharf.

Once complete it will be ready to welcome the tunnel boring machine that will be working its way westward from the Limmo Peninsula across the Thames to the east.

Hole GCL09-11, the last hole of the 2009 winter drilling program, returned elevated nickel mineralization grading up to 0.34% nickel over a 2.4-meter drilled width from 372.50 to 374.90 meters, which includes 0.5% nickel over 0.7 meters.

The host rock is a channel peridotite flow horizon similar to that hosting the Langmuir Nickel Discovery Zone (W4), where drilling in May of 2007 had intersected 1.14% nickel over 72.5 meters., and the recent significant W2 Nickel Discovery of 1.72% nickel over 3.0 meters , about 1.5 km east of the Langmuir Nickel Discovery Zone. Company geologists have not yet determined whether this is a new channel flow horizon hosting nickel sulphides or is the same flow horizon hosting nickel mineralization in either the Langmuir Nickel Discovery Zone (W4) or the W2 Discovery.

Construction Equipment and Commercial Property Market's Tentative Recovery

The commercial property market in the U.K. just started a "tentative" recovery, according to surveys of developers, contractors and suppliers of construction equipment.
